Graduation Requirements

High School Graduation Requirements

Students shall participate in commencement ceremonies and receive diplomas of graduation from high school only after completing all requirements.

To receive a high school diploma from Lynwood Unified School District, students must complete the following credits:

1. Total credits required: 220
2. Required courses: (one year = 10 credits)

Credit is earned for grades of A through D in all courses. Standard credit is 5 units for each semester course passed. An “F” or “WF” earns zero credit. To receive a high school diploma from Lynwood Unified School District, students must complete the following credits:
 
  • English: 4 years (40 credits)
  • World History: 1 year (10 credits)
  • U.S. History: 1 year (10 credits)
  • US Government: 1 semester (5 credits)
  • Economics: 1 semester (5 credits)
  • Mathematics: 3 years (30 credits)
  • Life Science(10 credits)
  • Physical Science(10 credits)
  • Physical Education: 2 years (20 credits)
  • Visual/Performing Arts/Practical Arts: 1 year (10 credits)
  • **Foreign Language: 1 year (10 credits)
  • Elective Credits: (60 credits)
    ** UC requires two years and recommends three years of foreign language. CSU requires one year of foreign language and recommends two years of visual/performing arts. These requirements effective 2012-2013 school year.
